Paytm Now Lets You Book Train Tickets Without Any Additional Charges

The platform possessed by Noida-based One97 Communications additionally permits users to check PNR status of the trains and submit an application for an”instant refund” on cancellations of the current bookings. The new move comes weeks after Paytm arch-rival PhonePe announced its venture with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to offer a micro-app on its platform to let users easily book their train tickets.
Until October this season, Paytm was charging a Payment Gateway fee that was equivalent to 1.8% of the total purchase value on train ticket bookings. This along with other additional charges has now been waived off from the corporation. “The transfer is targeted to encourage more travelers to embrace online as a low-cost and hassle-free route for booking train tickets,” said Paytm Vice President Abhishek Rajan in a media announcement.

Along with allowing ticket bookings, Paytm provides a way to assess live PNR status and use for an immediate refund for cancellations. Frequent travellers can make repeat their prior bookings without needing to fill in the exact same information differently.

This past year, Paytm maintained it witnessed over three times growth in its own Traveling business with more than 38 million tickets sold at the financial year 2017-2018. The stage also doubled its traveling client base to nine million. Notably, the Traveling vertical at Paytm is based out of Bengaluru using a headcount of all 300.

Indian Railways arm IRCTC is offering passengers using a stage to book tickets with no additional charges for some time. However, there is a limit of reservations up to Rs. 1,00,000 to avail the zero additional charge benefits.
