Harry Potter: Wizards Unite to Launch This Summer, Warner Bros. CEO Confirms

CEO Confirms

The Harry Potter cellular video game that’s been in the news since all of last year has finally obtained a launch timeline. Warner Bros.. Games and Niantic introduced its preview in November 2018, and are now confirming that the game will be released this summer. The game is formally called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and it’ll leverage the AR technology used in other Niantic games such as Pokemon Go and Ingress. Warner Bros.. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara states that the match is going to be released by Niantic in summertime, and that it’ll leverage out of the 5G rates that will start to roll out this year.

That’s a universe where, obviously, 5G and faster connectivity using a mobile device is going to create that game better.”

Tsujihara did not exactly offer a specific date, but expect it to release during the summer holiday period so that more students are liberated for gameplay, just like Pokemon Go, which published in July 2016. The Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Twitter handle has been sharing teasers regularly, and the current one concentrated on the Discombobulated Niffler.

The game has gained a great deal of attention, even before its release, and the Twitter handle has amassed over 64K followers already. To recall, the game was announced in November two years back. Niantic and WB Games seem to leverage the huge fanbase that Harry Potter enjoys, and the match should appeal to all the Potterheads outside there. Wizards Unite will even benefit from the extensive location database built by Ingress – Niantic’s first AR name – and Pokemon Go, allowing it to utilize real-world places as part of the Harry Potter experience.

However, while Pokemon was rather generic in this regard, Niantic might have to be specific with Harry Potter, given how Rowling has created back stories for every area she’s written about. It is possible to register at the game’s website to be updated of future statements.
