The streaming dongle has been part of internal talks at Apple, reports The Info, citing people knowledgeable about the evolution. The dongle is supposed to set the pitch to the upcoming video streaming service that’s likely to take on contenders such as Amazon Prime Videoand Netflix. Before this year, it was also reported that Apple would bring a subscription bundle to provide initial TV shows, music service, and information articles under a single roof – somewhere like how Amazon drives its subscription-based Prime service that includes Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, and Prime Now among other important services.
So far, Apple TV is available since the lone streaming device by Apple. Amazon even lately brought the Fire TV Stick 4K which arrives in Rs. 4,999 ($49.99 in the US).
The new dongle can help Apple expand its presence on the marketplace of streaming media players. According to a recent report by Parks Associates, the possession of flowing media players has grown from about half of US broadband homes in 2010 to 40% at the beginning of 2018. The report also said that the Apple TV leads on the avenues of gaming and simplicity of finding something new to observe and purchasing new content. Data startup Thinknum reported that Apple TV has now been the second best-selling 4K streaming apparatus from the US following Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K.
